Hey, Deck McGuire, thanks for joining us during a live WTPL Radio show in New Hampshire yesterday. The 2010 Blue Jays No. 1 pick phoned in and spoke with Bob Lipman and me on the Bob Lobel Show. We learn Deck was inspired by John Smoltz and Randy Johnson, and how he's daring to dream big in 2012. He'll mostly likely begin the season at Double-A New Hampshire but says, "No offense, but I'd really like to start in the big leagues. Whether I'm in Toronto or New Hampshire, I'm just going to embrace the opportunity and try to get better and try to help this organization win a World Series."

Gisele is not happy
This is video gold. Gisele Bundchen, who is hanging with Vince Wilfork's wife, rips her husband's teammates while standing at the elevator following the Super Bowl. In the background, you can hear New York Giants fans shouting at the supermodel, with one guy yelling, "Eli owns your husband!" Gisele does have a point. If Wes Welker made the catch with 4:06 to play, I believe the Patriots would've gone on to win Super Bowl XLVI. And while we're on the topic, in Super Bowl XLII, if Asante Samuel made the pick with 1:17 remaining, the New England Patriots would've beaten the Giants the first time around. Coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Patriots, Redcoats and the American Revolution
Matt Bonner breaks down the Super Bowl as only the Red Rocket could break it down. From our radio show:
Matt Bonner: Yeah, and the American patriots shouldn’t have beaten the British in the American Revolution, but we did. Now there’s a professional football team called the Patriots, and they’re going to do the same thing. How’s that for a metaphor?
Chris Ryan: It doesn’t work. The Americans had muskets and pitch forks and were a rag-tag army.
Matt Bonner: If you told General John Stark that 230 years from now, there’s going to be a professional football named after your cause, the Patriots, and they’re going to take down the New York Giants in the Super Bowl the same way you’re taking down the British, would you believe him? Now that’s inspiration for you.

"Let your consciense guide you."
SO WHAT is going on in the outside world? We've been embedded at Disney World, where dreams really do come true. (Pause while I order my Yu Darvish Blue Jays jersey.) Too soon? Anyway, since this blog is about baseball "and life," here are some "life" pics.
